30 Years Vienna International Pianists and
20th VIP Academy: Two reasons to celebrate!
In 2018, the Vienna International Pianists celebrate their 30th anniversary and organise their 20th successful and diversified summer festival with intense artistic work and numerous concerts! 36 young pianists will receive a maximum of instruction in 5 individual lessons, one with each professor from our international faculty, and can perform at least in one student recital at Ehrbar Hall. A singing course for pianists, a museum visit and a workshop about stage behaviour are also scheduled! For participants from outside of Vienna, there are free practice-rooms!
Vienna, the capital of Central European music, offers the perfect ambiance: The participants will perform at Ehrbar Hall, one of Vienna’s most prestigious concert halls, where Johannes Brahms and Gustav Mahler once appeared, on a Bösendorfer concert-grand, model 280 VC! In addition, there is the option to participate at the 10th Rosario Marciano International Piano Competition without registration fee!

Naomi Ishii studierte nach dem Abschluss ihrer pianistischen Hochschulausbildung in Japan von 1981-1984 an der Hochschule Mozarteum in Salzburg bei Hans Leygraf. Danach kehrte sie in ihr Heimatland zurück und wurde dort eine der erfolgreichsten Pädagoginnen in der Ausbildung junger Klaviertalente. Ständig werden ihre Schülerinnen und Schüler mit ersten Preisen beim PTNA-Wettbewerb, dem japanischen Studentenwettbewerb, dem Japanischen Wettbewerb für klassische Musik und anderen Musikwettbewerben ausgezeichnet. Sie selbst erhält in jedem Jahr den „Teachers‘ Award“ (seit 2001 von der PTNA, der japanischen Piano Teachers‘ National Association und seit 2005 vom Japanischen Wettbewerb für Klassische Musik. 2005 und 2011 verlieh ihr die PTNA sogar den „Special Teacher’s Award“! Naomi Ishii ist neben ihrer Konzerttätigkeit Jurorin vieler verschiedener Wettbewerbe und hält Vorträge und Meisterkurse in ganz Japan. Seit 2010 organisiert sie den gesamtjapanischen Bach-Wettbewerb. zurück
Following her Japanese Music University graduate, Naomi Ishii continued her studies at the Music University Mozarteum in Salzburg with Hans Leygraf from 1981 to 84. Then she returned to her home country and became one of the most successful Japanese pedagogues in the education of young piano talents. A great number of her students continuously get first prizes at the PTNA Competition, the Japanese Students Competition, the Japanese Competition for Classical Music and many other contests. Ms. Ishii herself is annually given the „Teachers‘ Award“: since 2001 by PTNA, the Japanese Piano Teachers National Association and since 2005 by the Japanese Competition for Classical Music. In 2005 she even received the PTNA’s „Special Teacher’s Award“! Next to her concertizing, Naomi Ishii adjudicates at many different competitions and holds lectures and master-classes all over Japan. Since 2010 she is director of the all-Japanese Bach Competition. back

Stephan Möller wurde in Hamburg
geboren. Er erhielt seine Ausbildung als Pianist und Dirigent in
Hamburg, Bremen und Salzburg. Von 1983-89 arbeitete er bei den Salzburger
Festspielen mit Dirigenten wie Herbert von Karajan zusammen. 1985
war er Preisträger des Internationalen Beethoven-Klavierwettbewerbs
Wien. Seine Konzerttätigkeit führt ihn durch ganz Europa,
die USA, Japan und China. Schwerpunkte seines Repertoires sind Beethovens
32 Klaviersonaten und 5 Klavierkonzerte, Liszt-Paraphrasen über
Wagner-Opern und Kompositionen für den Bösendorfer-Computerflügel.
Unter seinen CD-Einspielungen finden sich Raritäten wie Beethovens
Große Fuge und Wagners gesamtes Klavierwerk. Stephan Möller
lehrt an der Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst

Stephan Möller
was born in Hamburg. He studied piano performance and orchestra
conducting in Hamburg, Bremen and Salzburg. 1983-1989, he worked
at the Salzburg Festival with Herbert von Karajan. In 1985, he was
a prize-winner at the international Beethoven Piano Competition
in Vienna, Austria. Stephan Möller is busily concertizing all
over Europe, the USA, Japan and China. Repertoire highlights are
Beethoven's 32 piano sonatas and 5 piano concertos, Liszt´s
concert paraphrases on Wagner's operas, and compositions for the
computer-assisted Bösendorfer grand piano. Among his CD recordings,
there are such rarities as Beethoven’s Grosse Fuge and Wagner’s
complete piano music. Stephan Möller is on the faculty at the

Während seiner mehr als zwanzigjährigen Karriere hat Maurizio Moretti in den berühmtesten Konzertsälen Europas sowie in Tokio, Peking, Shanghai und vielen anderen Städten gespielt. Er tritt regelmäßig mit renommierten Orchestern und Kammermusikensembles in ganz Europa auf.
Moretti unterzeichnete kürzlich einen Vertrag mit Decca in London, um eine Tschaikowsky gewidmete CD aufzunehmen. Er hat Klavierkonzerte Mozarts (als Solist und Dirigent), zwei CDs für Klavierduo sowie CDs mit Klaviermusik von Liszt und Wagner aufgenommen. Sein nächstes Projekt ist eine Aufnahme von Brahms' Klavierkonzert Nr. 2 zusammen mit dem American National Orchestra. Die Washington Post schrieb über ihn "Ein echter Poet am Klavier ... der magische Klang Morettis machte den Klavierabend zu einem unvergesslichen Erlebnis."
Geboren in Cagliari, studierte Maurizio Moretti zunächst bei Ida Allegretto am Konservatorium seiner Heimatstadt und dann fünf Jahre lang am CNSM de Paris bei Aldo Ciccolini, der über ihn schrieb: "Eine außergewöhnliche rhythmische Vitalität, eine angeborene musikalische Klangbehandlung und große technische Kapazität charakterisieren sein Klavierspiel. Er ist sicherlich einer der talentiertesten und ursprünglichen Exponenten der italienischen Pianistik".
Maurizio Moretti ist derzeit künstlerischer Leiter des Internationalen Klavierfestival in Cagliari und der Ente Musicale di Nuoro und Accademia Internazionale Pianistica in Italien. Er ist ein hervorragender Klavierprofessor, Lehrtätigkeit an der berühmten Schola Cantorum in Paris. Darüber hinaus wurde er als Gastprofessor an der renommierten Kusatsu Festival und Academy in Japan eingeladen und gab Meisterkurse weltweit, einschließlich an der Budapester Liszt-Akademie, am Shanghai Conservatory, am Beijing Central Conservatory, Barcelona Conservatorio Superiore.eingeladen zurück
During his career spanning more than two decades, Maurizio Moretti has played regularly in the most famous European concert halls, as well as in Tokyo, Beijing, Shanghai and many others. He performs regularly with famous orchestras and chamber music ensembles throughout Europe.
Moretti recently signed a contract with the prestigious Decca London to record a CD dedicated to Tchaikovsky. He also recorded Mozart’s piano concertos (solo and conductor), two CDs for piano duo as well as CDs with music by Liszt and Wagner for piano. Next year he will achieve a CD with Brahms Piano Concerto n. 2 together American National Orchestra .The Washington Post wrote about him " a real poet of piano...the magical sound of Moretti trasform the recital in a unforgettable experience".
Born in Cagliari, he studied piano under Ida Allegretto at the Conservatory of his town and then for five years at the CNSM de Paris with Aldo Ciccolini, who wrote about him: "an extraordinary rhythmical vitality, a special inborn musical treatment of sound and a great technical capacity characterize his pianism. He is surely one of the most talented and original exponents of Italian pianism”.
Maurizio Moretti is currently artistic director of the International Piano festival in Cagliari and artistic director of the Ente Musicale di Nuoro and Accademia Internazionale Pianistica in Italy. He is an outstanding piano professor, teaching at the famous Schola Cantorum in Paris. Furthermore, he is invited as a guest professor to the renowned Kusatsu Festival and Academy in Japan and has taught master classes all around the world including Budapest Liszt Academy, Shanghai Conservatory, Beijing Central Conservatory, Barcelona Conservatorio Superiore etc. back

Eugenie Russo wirkte in der CBS-Fernsehserie „Bernstein-Beethoven“
mit und veröffentlichte zahlreiche CDs mit Werken amerikanischer
Komponisten wie Gershwin und Copland, aber auch der Wiener Schule
und zeitgenössischer Musik. Sie ist Artist-in-Residence an
mehreren amerikanischen Musikhochschulen und leitet eine Klavierklasse
am Josef-Matthias-Hauer-Konservatorium in Wiener Neustadt. zurück

KURT SEIBERT Germany g, e
Kurt Seibert, geboren 1944 in Lodz, ist emeritierter Professor für Klavier und Kammermusik an der Hochschule für Künste Bremen. In Hamburg erhielt er auch seine umfassende und intensive Ausbildung als Pianist und Kammermusiker bei Conrad Hansen und dem von Maurice Ravel und Claude Debussy geförderten und mit Ferruccio Busoni befreundeten Komponisten Philipp Jarnach. Seibert studierte auch Musiktheorie bei Wilhelm Maler. Er schloss sein Studium in Hannover als Schüler von Hans Leygraf mit dem Konzertexamen ab, wo er Max Regers Klavierkonzert spielte.
Für seinen Einsatz für das Werk Max Regers wurde Kurt Seibert mit vielen Auszeichnungen geehrt. So erhielt er den bayerischen Nordgaupreis, die Max-Reger-Medaille und, zusammen mit dem von ihm gegründeten Festival „Weidener Max-Reger-Tage“, den von der Bayerischen Akademie der schönen Künste verliehenen Fritz-Baur-Preis. Im Rahmen seiner weltweiten Konzerttätigkeit in Europa, Südamerika und Ostasien spielt er immer auch Werke von Max Reger und erläutert sie in Workshops und Vorträgen.
Kurt Seibert fühlt sich als Pianist und Künstler der großen, deutschen Interpretationstradition verbunden und verpflichtet. Schwerpunkte seiner Konzertprogramme bilden Werke von Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Reger und Hindemith. Ein Schwerpunkt seines künstlerischen Profils ist die Arbeit an zahlreichen interdisziplinären künstlerischen Projekten, in denen neben den interpretatorischen sowohl musikwissenschaftliche als auch kulturgeschichtliche Fragen thematisiert werden. Dies hat auch dazu beigetragen, dass zu Kurt Seiberts Repertoire viele Werke gehören, die im Musikbetrieb kaum zu hören sind und die auf diese Weise ans Licht gebracht wurden und so auch den Studenten zugänglich gemacht wurden. zurück
Kurt Seibert, born in Lodz in 1944, is professor emeritus for piano and chamber music at the University of the Arts Bremen. In Hamburg, he received his extensive and intensive education as a pianist and chamber musician with Conrad Hansen and the composer Philipp Jarnach, who had been aided by Maurice Ravel and Claude Debussy and had been a friend of Ferruccio Busoni. Seibert also studied music theory with Wilhelm Maler. He completed his studies in Hannover as a student of Hans Leygraf's with the "Konzertexamen", where he played Max Reger's Piano Concerto.
Kurt Seibert was honored with many awards for his commitment to the work of Max Reger. He received the Bavarian Nordgaupreis, the Max Reger Medal and, together with the festival "Weidener Max-Reger-Tage", which he founded, the Fritz-Baur Prize, awarded by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts. As part of his worldwide concert activities, he regularly plays works by Max Reger in Europe, South America and Eastern Asia and explains them in workshops and lectures.
As a pianist and artist, Kurt Seibert feels connected and committed to the great German music tradition. His concert programs focus on works by Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann and Brahms, Reger and Hindemith. Another emphasis of his artistic activities is the work on numerous interdisciplinary projects, addressing not only featuring questions of interpretation but also issues of musicology and cultural history. This has also contributed to the fact that Kurt Seibert's repertoire includes many works that are barely audible on the concert stage and have in this way been brought to light and made accessible to the students. back

GÜNTHER ZERBES Austria g, e, f, i, s
GÜNTHER ZERBES wurde am 21. Februar 1964 in Wien geboren. Medizin- und Gesangsstudium an der Universität Wien und der Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien bei Prof. Adelheid Schmid und Prof. Rolf Sartorius. Günther Zerbes war Chorsänger im Wiener Madrigalchor und seit 1990 im Wiener Staatsopernchor. Daneben geht er einer regen Unterrichtstätigkeit im Fach Gesang sowie in mehreren Fremdsprachen nach. Er war jahrelang als Solist einer reisenden Operntruppe tätig, als Bariton im angestammten Fach sowie Ausflüge ins tiefe Bassfach. Neuerdings ist Günther Zerbes erfolgreicher Leiter mehrerer österreichischer Chöre. zurück
